Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day. But what if feeding our spiritual health at the beginning of the day is also important?
I believe that beginning the day with a positive reflection brings about much productivity and carries us through the day. Whether you practice a faith-based lifestyle or not, I invite you to take this seven-day short reflection, and hope that it can be beneficial to you in some way! At the start of your day, begin with the reading of the day. Feel free to print this out or take it with you on your phone. You’ll find yourself more at peace, and ready to tackle the tasks of your day.
Sunday
Topic: Needs
Read:
- Philippians 4:19, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Encouragement: “We are to come to our heavenly Father, telling Him of all our needs. He is always ready to pardon and help.” -3BC 1146
Whether your needs involve the necessities of life or intellectual needs such as wisdom, God is always ready to supply. All we need to do is ask in faith. He is ready to hear all our needs, and we can trust Him like a child trusts their parents. The blessings we long for will be given to us according to His will and time.
Monday
Topic: Peace
Read:
- Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
- Steps to Christ 70, “A life in Christ is a life of restfulness. There may be no ecstasy of feeling, but there should be an abiding peaceful trust.”
Encouragement: Whatever situation we may find ourselves in, God can grant us peace. We may not feel a happy flight of feeling, but we can be sure that God is there, and His peace is upon us.
Tuesday
Topic: Wisdom
Read:
- James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
- Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.”
Encouragement: Our own wisdom can lead us in ways that seem unfair or troublous. It isn’t the experiences and abilities we have that will bring success, but rather what God can do. Thankfully, we don’t need to go to the ends of the earth for wisdom. If we earnestly seek the wisdom of God, He will grant it to us.
Wednesday
Topic: Freedom from fear
Read:
- Psalm 34:4, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
- John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Encouragement: God’s love is perfect, and we can be assured and have no fear. When we allow ourselves to trust in God, knowing that He will take care of us, our fears begin to fade.
Thursday
Topic: Forgiveness
Read:
- 1 John 1:19, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
- Psalm 103:12, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
Encouragement: God’s standards of forgiveness are very simple and reasonable. He doesn’t require grievous things in order to obtain forgiveness. Once we have confessed our sins, we may not feel any different, but we can claim the promises of God and have faith that He has forgiven us.
Friday
Topic: Deliverance
Read:
- Psalms 91:4-6, “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
- Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
Encouragement: Whether we are battling against our own selves in the conflict of life or dealing with others, we need not worry that God would leave us alone. God does not cause conflicts but rather permits them to prepare ourselves for peace.
Saturday
Topic: Healing
Read:
- Jeremiah 30:17-19, “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds.”
- 3 John 2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Encouragement: Whether it is a matter of the heart or an illness, God is the Physician and He desires us to prosper and be in health, even our souls. We must believe that God’s power is real, have faith in Him, and trust Him no matter what the outcome is.
“Consecrate yourself to God in the morning;
make this your very first work.
Let your prayer be,
‘Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine.
I lay all my plans at Thy feet.
Use me today in Thy service.
Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.’
This is a daily matter.
Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day.
Surrender all your plans to Him,
to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate.
Thus day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God,
and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ.—(Steps to Christ, 70)
